    Hi,
I’m Chris Nickson, the author of an historical crime series set in Leeds, England in the 1730s. The first of the novels, The Broken Token, was published last year (by Crème de la Crime) and was widely praised, even getting a starred review in Publisher’s Weekly. The second book, Cold Cruel Winter, appeared earlier this year (just published in the US), also from Crème (which is now a Severn House imprint).
The books feature Richard Nottingham, Constable of the City of Leeds, and John Sedgwick, his deputy. Unlike many historicals, they don’t feature the rich, but rather focus on the poor, many of whom live desperate live; they’re gritty rather than genteel, and try to evoke what life was really like at the time, in a place where the merchants were rapidly growing rich in the wool trade. The personal lives of Nottingham and Sedgwick are also important to the stories.
I’m hoping you might be interested in reading Cold Cruel Winter and possibly reviewing it on your blog. If so, I’d be very happy to send a .pdf copy of the book (or of both books, if you wish). And if you really enjoy them, I’ll gladly do a blog interview.
    Many thanks,
    Chris Nickson
