Crucifix of S. Sisto Date: 07/12/2007 In the tiny parish church of S. Sisto, near Piazza dei Cavalieri, we find a wodden 'volto santo' (holy face), a particular type of crucifix rather common in this area of Tuscany. It shows Jesus in full robes on the cross...suggesting death & resurrection. The most famous of this type of art is in the Cathedral of Lucca.
