Total Lunar Eclipse, 20 February
Before I forget to mention it, this item is from NASA's Science News service:
On Wednesday evening, February 20th, the full Moon over the Americas will turn a delightful shade of red and possibly turquoise, too. It's a total lunar eclipse—the last one until Dec. 2010.
They have more on the eclipse here, with times indicated (totality: 10:01 to 10:51 pm EST).
I hope it's not cloudy tonight, although it doesn't look promising here at the moment with full cloud cover and snow flurries. I'd hate to miss it–2010 seems so far away.

Pretty cloudy here too; the clear day/evening was yesterday, of course.
I DO hope the weather in the north-east improves dramatically in the next couple of weeks!

After a cloudy day with snow and gloom, the sky cleared this evening around 9pm and we were able to see all of totality, although we only saw it in ten-minute episodes, going outside until we got too cold and had to come back in to warm up. It was quite lovely, very ruddy with a bright limn that slipped around the circumference as the eclipse progressed.
I'm sure that the weather will be perfect in New York in a couple of weeks when we're scheduled to be there soaking up some culture. There will be more on that later, I expect.
